Prabha sir , designed  a Beautiful 3D house plan and elevation for us.  When we had changes that was also modified and given. I loved his design portfolio.

Here , I also want to share my experience after going through the process of building a house.

I had previously read in his review that somebody who had got 3D house design was not able to use it for their house building and I wondered  how could that be possible ?
But that is sadly   what happened for me also. He gave a beautiful design for us , but our builder was not able to bring it to reality or execute it.

After spending so much of time in getting the 3D design  our builder who  was just a contractor, set it couldn't be done and he just went with his own plan.

Then only I realised there must be perfect coordination between the plan and the person who is going to actually construct it,  if he will be capable of executing our designs. Builders calibre definitely has to be checked before the  planning stage .

Before going for the 3D plan clarify with the builder get a concrete word from him (whether he will be able to execute the design, as ours simply said get the plan and then didn't bother to use it )  Practically that may be very difficult.

Lessons I learnt :

I always have trouble visualising mentally. But after the house was built, I wished i had pushed myself a bit more to think about where the sun would rise and which place would have more privacy for the balcony.  We may just be a bit lazy mentally and think planning, visualisation may not be my cup of tea. But try it . Push it one step , then the next , think the previous step is completed if you are the type to go for the next step if only the previous one is completed. Asking whats next after this step is really helpful.

Communication gap will always be there. You  have to communicate both to  the builder / Contractor top of the pyramid  and the kothannar ( bottom of the pyramid )  who is going to lay the brick do the actual work. As i observed that what was communicated to the builder was not passed on to the mason who did the actual work and vice versa.
